Ambassador Program Expansion

Dialysis Center of Lincoln (DCL), Nebraska’s largest independent, nonprofit dialysis organization, and Ambassador Health, a local, family-owned rehabilitation center, are excited to announce the expansion of their dialysis services in the skilled care setting through collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the Nebraska Hospital Association.  This expansion was made possible through funding from LB 2274 and will provide increased capacity for hemodialysis services on-site for those with end-stage kidney disease and/or acute kidney injuries.  Providing dialysis in the skilled care setting eliminates the need for rehabilitation residents to travel outside of Ambassador Health to receive high-quality dialysis care.

This venture has been led on the DCL side by Home Dialysis of Lincoln unit manager Corinne Morehead and program nurse Debbie Grimmette.   This innovative model of care is the first of its kind in Nebraska and has gained popularity among healthcare providers and regulatory agencies.

Scott Butterfield, DCL’s CEO, says:

“In my experience, companies with differing financial strategies rarely form meaningful partnerships based solely on a shared purpose.  However, enhancing healthcare coordination while receiving financial support from our state government allows us to further our shared purpose in a truly rewarding way.  Our teams are excited for the opportunity to expand our skilled dialysis program to meet Lincoln’s growing healthcare needs.”
